Obituary of Alan Rolfe Reichenbach
Alan Rolfe Reichenbach, 65 was born in Bossier City, Louisiana. He is survived by the love of his life Cheryl. He is the beloved father of Jim Reichenbach and Diana (Reichenbach) Ulatowski, and grandfather to Nathaniel, Andrew, Randy, Katrina and Natasha. Alan is also survived by brothers, Roger, Lefty and Robin. He was preceded in death by his parents Myna and Boyd, affectionately known to all as Mom and Pop, his sister Barbara and his brother Ron.
Alan proudly served as a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years before retiring. His time in the Navy saw him stationed in California, Washington and finally Virginia. After he retired from the Navy he settled in Portland, Oregon. He went to culinary school and eventually worked as a chef at the renowned Heathman Hotel in downtown Portland. Alan’s last career move was to get back into the medical field as a surgery scheduler at the VA Hospital. Alan retired from that position in May of 2015.
Alan had a passion for experimental cooking, cooking shows on television, the Washington Redskins and most of all the New York Yankees. He enjoyed quiet time with Cheryl in their southeast Portland home, as well as hosting birthday parties for his kids and grandchildren, and holiday events filled with funny stories, anecdotes and constant laughter.
Alan will be dearly missed by all that were fortunate enough to know him.

We were just notified, today, of the loss of this KHS Classmate in 2016. I so remember Alan from our Syms days and at KHS. I have wondered, through the years, where he ended up and how he was doing. So many have left us, wish he could have at least made it to our KHS 50th Reunion in August. Not to be. Rest in Eternal Peace, Alan.

Larry Dowdy (1969)
I was saddened to hear of the death of Alan. We were friends from Syms JHS through KHS. I lost track of him after HS, although I saw him once on TV at Christmas, when he was sending greetings from his ship back home to his family in Tidewater.
Not only were we in Band together, but Alan was the drummer for the first garage band I was in. Our very first paying gig was for his sister's wedding reception at the American Legion Post in Phoebus!
Alan, buddy, you are missed! Rest in Peace.

I remember Alan as just a really nice guy. He had a great laugh, didn't he, Larry? So glad to know he had family who loved him and a fulfilling life. It will be so hard for them now, so I pray for their comfort.
