Joseph Franklin Cobb Jr., 72, passed the 20th of January 2023 at his home in Hampton, Virginia. Please join the family this Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Coastal Community Church, located at 101 Village Avenue, Yorktown, VA 23693. “Celebration of Life” will begin at 3:00 p.m. followed by a brief visitation.
Joseph is predeceased by his father, Joseph Franklin Cobb, Sr., and mother, Ruby Allen Cobb.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ann Brock Cobb. They were married December 19, 1970 in Hampton, VA.
Joseph is lovingly remembered by his children, Michelle Lee Ellis and her husband, Michael Wayne Ellis, Holly Ann Cobb, and Tommy Franklin Cobb and his wife Kristina Cobb. His grand-children, Tyler Camden Winegrad and Brayden Lee Ellis; with extended grand-daughters, Katelynn Staton and Brooke Young.
He is also survived by his sisters, Brenda Scott, Cheryl Walker, and Ginger Cone as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Joseph graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 1968. He attended Thomas Nelson Community College.
Joseph enjoyed fishing, playing baseball and Coaching. One of his greatest pleasures was watching his children and grand-children compete in sports.
Joseph loved spending time with his family and friends, especially at the ballfield. His love for baseball started at a young age leading to several years of Coaching on and off the field. As a Coach, his number one rule was “No Coaching from the stands”, a rule he himself broke often as a spectator. His love and knowledge of baseball was always topic of any conversation you had with him. Once a Coach, always a Coach.
He was a man who knew no stranger and took every opportunity to brag about his children and grand-children. They were definitely the pride and joy of his life. He worked long hours to provide for his family but made sure to be present for every event possible. Joseph would sacrifice whatever it took to make sure his family was provided for.
He will be greatly missed by so many. See you at the ballfield!
