Brenda Jo Ann Rhea died unexpectedly in Hampton, Virginia. Brenda was born in Welch, West Virginia on August 16, 1950, but spent most of her life in Hampton.

Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Lola and Joseph Rhea. Brenda graduated from Kecoughtan High School and began working for the City of Hampton. She returned to school and received her nursing degree from ODU, her Masters of Health Administration from MCV and additional coursework from HU.

Brenda enjoyed a successful career in nursing and hospital administration in Harrisonburg, Hampton and Newport News and was an instructor in the Registered Nurse Baccalaureate Program at Hampton University. Brenda served as a 1st Lt. in the US Army Reserves, and held memberships in the American Assoc. of Critical Care Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for Nursing.

Brenda is survived by many friends and especially her good friend Roger Brooks. Anyone who knew Brenda was aware of her love for all animals. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Heidi, and her cats, Jaime, Victor and Misto. Brenda was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hampton where she sang in the choir.

There will be a memorial service for Brenda at St. Paul's, 807 W. Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:00 am followed immediately with a graveside service at Parklawn Memorial Park. Memorials in Brenda's honor should be made to the Peninsula SPCA, 523 J Clyde Morris Blvd. Newport News, VA 23606 or to the animal shelter of your choosing.

Bonnie Bridger (Mittelmaier) (1969)

So very sad to see the loss of this KHS '68 Classmate.  May she rest in eternal peace.
