Teresa Vess Obituary

HAMPTON - Teresa Eugenia Vess passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 with family at her side and flew away with the heavenly angels to answer the Master's call and is now resting peacefully in paradise. She leaves to cherish her memories are her parents, Lyla and William Eugene Vess; brother, William David Vess; niece Kristy Vess; nephew, Benjamin Vess; and host of other nieces and nephews who meant the world to her. Also a most devoted and loving friend, Melissa Kintigh and all her nurse friends she loved so much for the past years. Last, but most important, her fuzzy pets, Freckles and Smokey. Teresa was an honor graduate from Kecoughtan High School. She graduated from Riverside Hospital School of Professional Nursing as a Registered Nurse; received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Christopher Newport University; graduated magna cum laude and received department honors at Norfolk State University with a Master's Degree in social work, licensed Register Nurse and clinical social worker. She was Clinical Services Administrator, Director of Nursing, Quality Manager, and Community Support Program Manager with the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, and Psychologist for the Hearing Impaired Program. Teresa was a member of First United Methodist Church of Newport News, VA. Services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at 11:00 am, at First United Methodist Church, 10246 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, or to the Animal Aid Society on Butler Farm Road.
