RE: KHS Bon Fires Posted Thursday, May 14, 2009 08:08 PM LOL. I didn't seem to go to events like the bon fires; I was skinny and wore coke bottle glasses. Who or what were we burning? What I remember very vividly is hating Mr. Cronau's guts. Algebra and me . . . there wasn't much of a connection there. And I think that Cronau hated me as much as I hated him. In fact I nearly failed the MF's class. Which reminds me: did you hear what was said about Rahm Immanuel (sp?) (current White House Chief of Staff) at that recent White House Press comedy event? That he wasn't very comfortable around Mother's Day . . . "Day" wasn't usually the word he uses after saying the word "Mother." Or thereabouts. I don't remember the exact quote but I laughed and laughed. |

RE: KHS Bon Fires Posted Friday, May 15, 2009 01:13 PM I didn't like Mr. Cronau either and he sure didn't like me! The one and only time I was sent to Mrs. Lathem's office was because of that man. I loved algebra but sure didn't like the teacher. |

RE: KHS Bon Fires Posted Friday, May 15, 2009 07:30 PM LOL. Well!! I'm glad that finally, after all these years, I have gotten someone else to admit IN PUBLIC they felt the same way about him. You know, he completely soured me off anything to do with Math. I just hated it after his class. And I didn't learn a damned thing either. But, I can truthfully say that I have successfully navigated almost 58 years of life (well, in two weeks anyway) and have survived without Algebra. If I can't solve it using Arithmetic (which is more my speed, LOL) I probably wouldn't know what to do with the answer anyway. |

RE: KHS Bon Fires Posted Sunday, May 17, 2009 09:49 PM I didn't have Mr. Cronau for anything, so thankfully I was spared his wrath. But I bombed out on Algebra and Geometry, had to go to summer school. Hated math always and forever, didn't impede my ability to become a functioning and contributing member of society, LOL. Anyway, that's why some wonderful human invented calculators.
Loved the bonfires, I remember one time when I was in a chain of folks and we were running around the bonfire and my hair caught on fire and I was not able to get my hands free to put it out, it was smoking and sparks were flying, yikes, finally was able to put that fire out. I still laugh about it almost wet my pants, now and then. Bonnie |

The bonfires at GOSNOLD's Hope Park were great. Jerry, I think they burned anything that was donated and made of wood. The piles were HUGE! Cathy Dulaney sent to the Dean of Girls ?!?!?!? Never knew you to breach any of the rules...well maybe one every now and then. |

RE: KHS Bon Fires Posted Monday, May 18, 2009 02:05 PM Thanks for the spelling correction and you are Right the fires were huge and it was such fun to yell and holler about crushing the Crabbers ! Ha and I had many HHS friends cause I attended Thorpe Jr High School. As for Math I had him for Alg I and it was traumatic but some how I survived it.
Had a BLAST at the 40th reunion for the Class of 69 ! |
