NEWPORT NEWS - Garry W. Hooks, 59, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009.
A native of Wilson, N.C., he was a Peninsula resident for most of his life. He loved watching NASCAR and was a great Yankees and Redskins fan.
Survivors include his wife, Terry Hooks; his son, Scott Hooks of Hampton; his loving daughter-in-law, Liz "Stretch" Hooks of Hampton; four brothers, Jim Hooks of Monroe, N.C., Paul Hooks and his wife, Sandy of Williamsburg, Lou Hooks and his wife, Sheila of Carrollton, and Ronnie Hooks of Hampton; his sister, Joyce Pollard and her husband, Danny of Smithfield; five grandchildren, Kobe, Caitlin, Kimberly, Kiara, and Christopher; his sister-in-law, Robin Thielen and her husband, Peter of Smithfield; his nephew, Peter Thielen Jr. of Smithfield; and his brother-in-law, Barry Bailey and his wife, Eileen of Hampton.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions.
