Recently a Classmate made us aware of the passing of Richard Tinsley '69.  Apparently, Rick as he was known had included Carpowich in his last name and at the time he was creating his profile, on this KHS website, he was using it.  That along with the very minimal information in the obituary, made it, initially, a bit more difficult to connect all of that with our Richard Tinsley.  The Classmate who received notification only had a brief text regarding the passing and so we are posting what was official.  I am always so grateful to receive this information so we may ackowledge the loss and honor our Classmate.

As something I believe worth sharing is that some years ago, I had connected with Rick, in a rather minimal way, and after reviewing some responses on his Classmate Profile, I realized that he was the person who not only wrote the eulogy for the funeral of Mitch Worden in spring, 1969, he delivered it.  It was incredible to read this, so many years later, and think at Rick's young age, he could write and deliver such a sorrowful eulogy, for a person who was obviously a close friend, taken in such an unexpected and shocking situation.  I have posted his copy below and I urge you to read it.  To look back, from where we are now, is so sorrowful but so amazing.  Now those 2 are together again, I hope they are jubilant in their reunion in Heaven.

Rest in Eternal Peace Dear Classmate

Thank you Bonnie for your words on Richard Tinsley.

Rick was always nice, laid back. A great friend. I think he had a brother ?  Gosh, my memory is so foggy these days..  There was something about California about him even back then?  Maybe it was that he had moved from CA to VA? Or that in 69 he was accepted to gp to college out there in California. I can't remember anymore. Such a nice guy.

In any case, the continued passing of more and more Warriors is so sad. And so it goes.

Again a great 55th Reunion. It was so much fun.

Paul
