HAMPTON - Harvey A. Avant, Jr., 68, of Hampton, Virginia peacefully entered into eternal rest with his Heavenly Father on November 13, 2017. Harvey was preceded in rest by his father, Harvey Avant, Sr. and mother, Lois K. Avant. He leaves behind to treasure his memory his daughter, Dionne Howerton and husband, Eddie; son, Rickey Avant; sister, Sheila McKay; brother, Billy Avant and his wife, Kay; three grandchildren, Heather Powers, Eric Powers, and Amy Roberts; six great-grandchildren; nephews, Tommy Thompson, Johnny Bye, Harry Shoemaker, and Willie Avant; niece, Doris Marie Williams; and great-nieces and nephews. Harvey loved riding motorcycles and being with his friends. He especially enjoyed eating out with his very special friend, Jessie. A celebration of Harvey's life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park. Interment will be at a later date. Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family. Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666.

Bonnie Bridger (Mittelmaier) (1969)

Such a surprise to read that Harvey Avant has passed away.  I didn't know him well, only remember who he was when I heard that he had passed.  Another Classmate gone too soon.  May he rest in peace.  Sad for those left behind.

Sorry to hear the sad news, didn't know him that well but prayers out to the families and close friends and my he R.I.P.....
