HAMPTON - On November 14, 2015, God wrapped his loving arms around our precious sister, aunt, relative and friend, Jean DeVel Frazier. Jean was the eldest daughter of the late Dr. Maurice Winfield Frazier and Alma Chandler Frazier. She was born August 19, 1950 in Hampton, Virginia. Jean was often known by her middle name DeVel. She received her formative education from Robert R. Moton Elementary, Y. H. Thomas Junior High School and graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 1968. DeVel spent time as a high school student studying abroad. As a 1972 Hampton Institute honor graduate, Jean proceeded to Howard University School of Law where she received her doctorial degree in 1975. DeVel leaves a wonderful legacy that will be cherished by her sisters Dr. Acquanetta Frazier (John), Alesia Frazier-Johnson (Douglas); five nephews Maurice Stancil, Thomas Johnson II, Christopher Johnson, William Stancil II, and Troy Johnson and one niece: Allegra Stancil Hamlet (David), one aunt: Evelyn Williams and a host of family and friends. Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Queen Street Baptist Church, 98 N Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia. www.cookebros.com

Bonnie Bridger (Mittelmaier) (1969)

Sad to see that another classmate has passed away.  I did not know Jean personally, I did recognize her picture though and as I read her obituary it was clear that Jean was a very accomplished person.  Her family spoke of the wonderful legacy she left for them.  May she rest in peace.

William Fox (1968)

I am sorry to hear about Jean DeVel Frazier. Although I did not know her well, we were in home room for three years, I am always saddened by the loss of any classmate. Bless her and her family.
