William R. Warden

William Ray Warden, 77, passed away Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 in Tallahassee, Fla.
Mr. Warden graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Beckley, W.Va., in 1950; Concord College (B.S.) in 1954; and West Virginia University (M.A.) in 1959. "Billy Ray" received many awards for his athletic abilities in basketball at both the high school and collegiate levels. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. "Mr. Warden" worked for Hampton City Schools for over 25 years, where he taught physical science at Benjamin Syms Junior High School until 1988.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Mahtildhe Warden Ashenfelter; his daughter, Brenda Warden Minno of Windam, N.H.; his son, Stan M. Warden of Tallahassee, Fla.; his grandchildren, Samual Minno and Anna Warden; many other friends and family.
A private memorial service was held in Tallahassee, Fla. Another memorial service will be held in the summer of 2010, where his ashes will be returned to his home state of West Virginia. Family and friends will be contacted directly with specific information.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that the memorial contributions be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.
