Edward W. Briley passed on September 19, 2024 after a short illness. A 1967 graduate of Kecoughtan High School, he served in the Army until November of 1969, graduated from Thomas Nelson Community College with an associate degree in commercial arts, and Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland with a B.F.A. in graphic design.
He worked at Virginia Institute of Marine Science as an illustrator, John J. McMullen Associates, Inc. as a ship designer, Langley Air Force Base 1st FW Civil Engineering as a sign painter, Tactical Air Command LAFB TAC Graphics as an illustrator and graphic designer, Air Combat Command LAFB ACC graphics as an illustrator and graphic designer and retired in 2015. His artwork at LAFB was shown all over the United States. After retirement he had great pleasure showing his work at Charles H. Taylor Arts Center and Peninsula Fine Art Center.; and was a member of the Hampton Art League.
An avid music lover, his knowledge of music was vast. He had a great love of all animals and was a loving father to many fur babies.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lorie Briley; brother, Michael Briley (Terri), niece, Erin Briley (Timothy), nephew, Jacob Briley (Hollie); and great-nephews Jacob, Jr., Connor and Tyler.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Park Lane Taven, 4200 Kilgore Avenue, Hampton, VA.
