LARRY R. ALLEN
HAMPTON - Larry Russell Allen, 47, died Wenesday, March 11, 1998. Born in Merced, Calif., he had been a lifelong resident of the Peninsula and was a 1969 graduate of Kecoughtan High School. Larry was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and worked as a heavy equipment operator for the city of Newport News.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah L. Allen, his father, John Paul Allen; his twin brother, Harry E. Allen, and a niece, Katherine McManis.
He is survived by his daughter, Cortney A. Allen of the home; his mother, Dora Ruth Allen of Hampton; a stepson, Justin A. Bowers of Covington; two sisters, Jerri Allen McManis of Dandridge, Tenn., and Brenda Sue Allen of Hampton; nieces and nephews, Steven Allen Dickenson, Pamela Creamean, Cynthia Boyd and Charles Adam McManis, and one great-niece and two great-nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. March 15 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. Jack E. Davis. Burial will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

I recently was made aware that Larry Allen, twin brother of Harry Allen, '69 passed away in 1998. Both Larry and Harry are the brothers of Brenda Allen, KHS '67. I can't think of anyone I enjoyed more in my years at Syms and KHS. Both of these boys were just so funny and full of fun. In my mind's eye they will always remain those young, happy, funny young men, very sweet and my good friends. How sad to think they left us way too soon. May God and the Holy Spirit be with them now and always. May they walk with the Lord Jesus and many angels. Will look for them on the other side. Love to both of you boys!
