Steve Routen

July 9, 1952 - February 14, 2008

ROUTEN, Steven Allen passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2008 at his home in Riverview. He was predeceased by his father, Marvin Routen, and sister, Tami Routen. Steve is survived by his mother, Lita Lou Routen, his brothers, Mark and Jeffrey, sister-in-law, Barbara and Martha, and nephews, David, Ryan, Eric, Chris, Scott Francis. Steve served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era, and then as an aide to both the former U.S. Congressman Gilbert Gude of Maryland and former Hillsborough County Commissioner Phyllis Busansky. He served as director of Hillsborough County Animal Services. He also worked for the Divine Providence Food Bank in Tampa, as project manager for Arthur Rutenberg Homes and as manager with Holmberg Farms in Lithia. He was devoted to his parents in their later years and helped care for them. He loved animals, camping, fishing, traveling, teasing, and expressing his political views. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Napier Family Farm & Animal Rescue, 20010 S.R. 64 E., Bradenton, FL 34212, where Steve's Labrador Retrievers, Montana and Java, are awaiting adoption. May your final journey bring you the contentment you sought, Steve. We miss you.

Bonnie Bridger (Mittelmaier) (1969)

We were recently notified of the passing of this Classmate, Steven Allen Routen KHS '70 in 2008.  While we mourn his passing, we appreciate the notification and being able to include him with our other Fallen Warriors.
