Obituary of Roger D. Ramsey

Roger D. Ramsey, 72, of Poquoson, VA passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021.

He was born October 15, 1948 in Rockbridge County, VA, but resided most of his life in Hampton. He was a 1967 graduate of Kecoughtan High School and completed the Electrical Apprentice training program through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Roger was a member of IBEW Local Union 1340 for more than 30 years and retired as a journeyman electrician from Williamsburg Electrical Services in 2005 due to health reasons.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson R. and Betty C. Ramsey. He is survived by his siblings, Jean R. Sandridge (John) of Ft. Defiance, Richard Wayne Ramsey (Ann) of Emporia, Sharon R. Gauldin (Charlie) of Emporia, Deborah R. Cowan (John) of Lexington, and Darrell W. Ramsey (Julie) of Williamsburg; children, Roger D. Ramsey, Jr. (Mary), Tracy L. Reed, and Amanda R. Stevens, all residing in Arizona; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 8, 2021 in the Chapel Mausoleum in Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 N. Armistead, Ave., Hampton, VA 23666. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:30 PM in the chapel. Burial will be at Parklawn Memorial Park.
